For almost 30 years, Gesher Disability Resources has been making it possible for individuals with special needs to get together in social settings. Yad B’Yad and Keshet social groups offer men and women (ages 18 years and above) Sunday afternoon gatherings to socialize and continue their Jewish studies at their own pace. The groups are led by special education teachers and meet at Gesher’s group homes as well as interesting locations out in the community.
In 2015 at the request of our supporters, Gesher added two additional social groups. Chaverim Tovim is for men and women in their 20’s and 30’s to experience community events with a “buddy” volunteer who is a local Jewish professional. Yeladeem is for children ages 5 to 10 years (kindergarten – 5th grade) providing an opportunity to play with a typical peer and a high school or other volunteer under the supervision of professional educational facilitators. The programs stress playing with others while learning about Jewish traditions.
There is an annual donation request of $50 to our participants.
