Gesher Disability Resources
Creating bridges to bring all communities together
Serving children and adults affected by a disability through inclusion assistance in the classroom, resource referral, residential support, employment opportunities, and social groups.
Our Programs
Our programs take into consideration the population served by Gesher. Education focuses on the learning needs of the student, Social Groups take into consideration member-requested events and activities, and Residential focuses on the life skills of the whole person.
Education
Gesher’s professional educators work directly with students who have learning challenges; train teachers on disability topics; and consult with school administrators and families on the special education system.
Social Groups
Gathering adults and children with special needs in accessible social settings to have fun together whether they are drawing, bowling, cooking, or other activities our members have told us they enjoy.
Residential
A Gesher Home is clean, safe and filled with Jewish life by residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities who want to live as independently as possible with caregiver support.
About us
Supporting individuals with special needs and their families in the Jewish community to lead fuller lives.
Serving the disability community is our passion and through programs and services led by Gesher professionals, we are impacting thousands of individuals throughout Arizona each year. Gesher Disability Resources was founded in 1985 by two moms who wanted their sons with disabilities to be included in summer camp and religious school. Today Gesher serves children and adults affected by a disability through inclusion assistance in the classroom, employment opportunities, resource referral, residential support, and social group activities. Gesher is also a Qualifying Charitable Organization eligible for Arizona’s dollar-for-dollar Tax Credit Program (Tax Id: 86-0626273; QCO Code: 20748). Donations to Gesher enhance ALL programs and services the agency offers.
Upcoming Events
Check out our community calendar and plan to join us!
Gesher Disability Resources hosts 4-6 events each month. Our events focus on inclusion for individuals with varying physical, intellectual, and developmental abilities. Some events, such as monthly Simchat Shabbat services and the Sternberg3 Community Model Seder, align with Jewish religious practices, while others are out in the community as requested by Gesher members. Generous donations from local foundations and individuals allow these important programs geared towards the disability community to continue.
